Heritage Rowe began with a key, a century-old building, and a camera.
I’m Emma, and for the past year I’ve been documenting my journey of transforming my town’s long-abandoned general store and post office into my dream homestead. This building sat untouched for decades, its shelves still holding the dust, papers, and artifacts of another time.
The name Rowe comes from one of the store’s original owners and, later, his son who I believe also ran it for a time. I never knew them personally, but keeping their name felt like a way to acknowledge the history of this place and preserve a piece of the town’s heritage while I give the building a new chapter.
As I’ve pulled open drawers and boxes, I’ve uncovered handwritten letters, antique bottles, postmarked envelopes, weathered tools, and the everyday goods of a bygone era — each exactly as I found them. In this shop, you’ll find those pieces offered just as they are, unwashed and full of the history they’ve carried for decades.
When you purchase from Heritage Rowe, you’re not just bringing home a vintage object — you’re helping me turn this once-forgotten building into a homestead that blends its history with the life I’m building today. In time, I also plan to offer goods from my garden or inspired by the homestead — herbal concoctions, tinctures, salves, and other creations from my garden to your hands, as well as replicas of unique items I’ve discovered here in the store. All in good time.
